Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without damaging the original. However it is only possible to replace one jewel in a piece of equipment once. Using more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth, and is often used to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Jewels also enhance performance and create a harder surface than steel, so that the repeated friction from pivots does not cause damage to the movement. In addition to the upgrades mentioned above additionally, players can acquire glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. This is especially true if an item has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade as it's usually more beneficial to upgrade one crucial stat than two subpar ones.
